Discover how Raglan, a leading manufacturer of trailers and truck boxes for heavy industries, eliminated nitrogen supply surprises and minimized downtime using NCD.io’s Industrial Wireless Pressure & Temperature Sensor and Qubitro. Learn how no-code device templates, automated alerts, and live dashboards empower proactive maintenance and smoother production runs.

When Raglan, a custom manufacturer of trailers and truck boxes for heavy industries, needed a reliable way to track compressed nitrogen levels in their fabrication processes, they turned to NCD.io’s industrial-grade sensors and Qubitro. The result? Fewer production interruptions, reduced downtime, and peace of mind for the team overseeing critical welding and manufacturing operations.

Background: Raglan’s Monitoring Challenge

Raglan’s business involves heavy fabrication for construction, mining, and other demanding sectors. Stabilizing nitrogen pressure is crucial in these processes—any sudden drop could shut down a production line or compromise product quality.

Raglan needed:

  • Immediate Alerts when pressure dipped below a critical threshold
  • Confidence that real-time data was accurate and accessible
  • A Simple Solution that wouldn’t bog down busy technicians

Solution Overview

Data Processing & Monitoring

  • Instant Data Processing: Sensor readings arrive securely in Qubitro, ready for analysis and visualization
  • No-Code Device Templates: Quickly configure new or existing devices, without diving into complex scripts
  • Automated Alerts: If nitrogen pressure falls below 250 PSI, Qubitro triggers an SMS via Twilio—keeping operators in the loop at all times

Reliable Hardware with NCD.io

NCD.io Industrial Wireless Absolute & Gauge Pressure and Temperature Sensors, along with a gateway, are used for the solution.

  • Built for Industrial Settings: Engineered to handle challenging shop-floor environments
  • Accurate PSI Readings: Monitors force per square inch on the nitrogen tank
  • Temperature Monitoring: Tracks CO₂/nitrogen temperature to ensure thermal consistency during operations

How It Works

  1. Installation: Raglan mounts the NCD.io sensor directly onto its nitrogen tank.
  2. Data Transmission: Pressure (PSI) and temperature metrics stream securely to Qubitro using standard MQTT protocol.
  3. Real-Time Thresholds: A 250 PSI alert threshold is set in Qubitro. When readings dip below that line, Qubitro’s built-in Rule Functions send a Twilio SMS to on-duty staff. A screenshot from the Qubitro Rule Function configuration page for real-time SMS alerts. The screen displays a JavaScript Logic Builder condition that triggers an alert when Pressure PSI drops below 250 during working hours (Monday to Friday, 6 AM to 3:30 PM EST). The script includes logic for checking time conditions, converting UTC to EST, and ensuring alerts are only sent during operational hours.
  4. Continuous Monitoring: Raglan’s team accesses a live dashboard that shows minimum, maximum, and current PSI values plus CO₂/nitrogen temperatures—ensuring any drop in pressure is instantly visible and actionable. A real-time monitoring dashboard built with Qubitro, displaying pressure and temperature data from an NCD.io sensor attached to a nitrogen tank. The dashboard includes a live graph tracking pressure (PSI) and temperature (°C) over time, along with key metrics such as the latest, maximum, and minimum pressure readings, as well as CO₂/Nitrogen temperature values. The system provides automated alerts and insights for industrial pressure monitoring.

Feedback From Raglan

Real-time alerts keep our team informed and ready to act, build confidence in machine operations, warn us before nitrogen runs low, and let us address issues proactively—ensuring uninterrupted workflows and peace of mind.

"Thanks to Qubitro, we've elevated our alertness and proactivity to new heights. By seamlessly transitioning from manual to real-time alerting, our system now ensures precision in monitoring machines and nitrogen supplies."
